These sparkling beauties known as Herkimer 'diamonds' ** are actually double terminated clear quartz crystals found in Herkimer County, NY.
They are called diamonds because of their sparkling clarity and geometrical shape.
The stones are wire wrapped in your choice of either 14kt gold filled or sterling silver wire to form stud/post earrings. Gold filled or sterling silver medium weight post backing secures the earring so that they sit nice and flush against the earlobe.
These are just so gorgeous and super light weight. Perfect for everyday...jeans & T-shirt or special occasion...they don't mind what you wear !
Herkimers are naturally formed, not factory cut and come in different sizes and shapes. The size of the stones used in these earrings is measured horizontally from tip to tip, however some stones are thicker or larger from top to bottom. The stones in each pair of earrings may not be symmetrical or identical however I hand pick each pair to make the best match possible.
Most of these stones are crystal clear yet some may have very slight inclusions which do not detract from their beauty.
The stones are available in 2 width sizes:, 8mm & 9mm. (sizes approximate)
Note: Most pairs are 8mm with just a few 9mm.

**Double terminated (points at both ends) quartz may be found in other sites around the world but only those mined in Herkimer County may be referred to as 'Herkimers'. They were discovered in the 18th century when workers were cutting stone in the Mohawk River Valley and are thought to be over 500 million years old.
