Stunningly beautiful carved Guatamalan jade pendant stone.
This gorgeous natural blue/green Guatamalan jadeite pendant is carved in the shape of a pipa* instrument. The pendant is topped with a sunstone rondelle capped top and bottom with bronze metal heishi discs.
The necklace is a beautiful colour combination of blue/green Guatamalan jade beads, orange sunstone faceted cubes and white magnesite rondelles. In the center are white bone hair pipe beads flanked by green/gold firepolished discs. Around the neck are 4mm firepolished glass beads. There is no clasp as the necklace easily fits over the head.
This piece is a midlength version at approx 26" long (excluding pendant drop) and very light weight. The pendant measures 1 7/8" long x 7/8" wide. Pendant drop is 2 5/8".
*Pipa pendant: A pipa is a Chinese pear shaped lute. In Chinese culture a jade pipa shaped pendant is considered an amulet or talisman worn to bring good fortune. Jade itself is considered a protective stone. This carving on this pendant is of a nine tailed fox beneath a moon and stars.
The jade pendants are initially shaped, carved and polished by machine to ensure precise dimensions and a consistent base finish. Finally skilled artisans refine with hand carving and hand polishing, adding that special touch that makes each piece unique.
